2024 Law Students Careers Summit

Each year, The Law Society of NSW holds a Careers Summit event. This event is the central hub for law students, prospective employers, and other law organisations. This year is the first year of the rebranding of the 'Law Careers Fair'.
The new Law Students Careers Summit not only brings together prospective employers and career mentors, but now also put forward engaging and valuable workshops, industry experts, and practical tangible learning opportunities.
Since the Student and Graduate audience is much more youthful, open, and energetic, this event required a substantial visual language overhaul.
Brief
Create a new visual identity for the flagship careers event that strikes a balance of excitement and youth, with the dignified and ethical nature of the legal profession.
Objective and audience
The law students of the Sydney Region, and the wider New South Wales to attend the event; as well as attracting prospective exhibitors like large law firms with extensive graduate programs to sponsor the event or purchase an event stall to mingle with attendees.
Design thinking and concept ideation
Design thinking, brainstorming, and ideation. My concept development process involves studying the single-minded proposition of a campaign, the target audience and understanding their needs, and creating a visual language that will hit the campaign objective, resonate with the audience, and convey a meaningful message.
Following the double-diamond process, these low-fi concept ideation brainstorms, with initial mood-board and low-fi mock ups, are presented to the internal stakeholder for concept feedback. Any concerns with the design direction are discussed before any hi-fi artwork development.

Neon lights have a visual language that infuses with the current Student Graduate ‘Career Curve’ element to create a refreshed but familiar identity.
Neon lights also represent the the many diverse destinations that string together the journey of their careers.
The vibrant, exciting, and illuminating quality of neon lights mirrors the diverse opportunities awaiting students in their future law careers.

Each year, The Law Society of NSW's Student Services facilitates the recruitment season for law students and graduates. An extensive suite of graphics and media are produced to advertise open positions at both large and small private law firms or law employers.
These graphics are produced for universities, colleges, law firms, and employers to distribute to advertise their open positions for students and graduates.
This is particularly useful for smaller firms or in-house teams who do not have in-house design capabilities, that can broadcast their offerings with The Law Society of NSW's Student Services brand.

For more unique situations, Lawfully Explains also shares The Law Society of NSW's rich database of member lawyers; affording Australians a simple search engine to help them find the right lawyer for them; filtered by language, specialty, geographic location, and member status.

The use of abstract and captivating visuals communicate complex and deep-rooted habits that are symptomatic of deeper mental health issues that are a consequence to mental fatigue and coping mechanisms that come with the job of being a lawyer.
